Aveen Hallissey, MHC-LP

Associate Therapist

Aveen Hallissey is a Mental Health Counselor dedicated to helping adolescents and adults gain a deeper understanding of themselves and create meaningful, lasting change. Many clients begin therapy knowing that something feels off but struggling to identify exactly what is contributing to their distress. Aveen works collaboratively with clients to uncover the patterns, beliefs, and behaviors that may be keeping them stuck, while helping them develop practical strategies to move forward with greater confidence and clarity.

She works with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, and life transitions. She also supports clients struggling with perfectionism, people-pleasing behaviors, difficulty setting boundaries, identity exploration, emotional overwhelm, self-doubt, and challenges related to communication and interpersonal relationships. Aveen is committed to providing LGBTQIA+ affirmative care and creating a supportive, inclusive environment where clients feel understood, respected, and empowered to explore their experiences authentically.

Aveen’s therapeutic style is thoughtful, engaged, and goal-oriented. She combines insight with action, helping clients better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while building the skills needed to navigate challenges more effectively. Drawing from evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), she tailors treatment to each client’s unique needs, strengths, and goals.

She earned her Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from New York University, where her training emphasized evidence-based treatment, clinical application, and culturally responsive care. In addition to her clinical training, Aveen founded a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing essential resources to underserved communities. This experience deepened her understanding of how personal struggles are often shaped by broader social, cultural, and environmental factors, enabling her to approach therapy with both empathy and perspective.

Aveen has completed advanced training in suicide assessment and intervention, clinical documentation, and professional mental health practice. She remains committed to ongoing professional development and continuing education to ensure she provides high-quality, evidence-based care that supports each client’s growth, resilience, and overall well-being.

Aveen works best with clients who are curious about themselves, open to self-reflection, and ready to actively engage in the process of change. Her goal is to help clients gain insight, build confidence, strengthen coping skills, and create more fulfilling relationships with themselves and others.
